The Royal Resorts Foundation supports cancer prevention through breast cancer and prostate cancer screening programs. It also sponsors seven children with mobility and neurological challenges for physiotherapy sessions at the Cancun CRIT Rehabilitation Center.
Cancer screening
One in 11 women in Cancun will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives
and 10 women die from breast cancer in Mexico every day. The state of Quintana Roo also has
one of the highest levels of cervical-uterine cancer in the country and rates of other types of
cancer are rising. Being diagnosed with this terrible disease is devastating but how much more
so when you have no one to turn to and no money to pay for the life-saving treatment you so
desperately need?
The Royal Resorts Foundation funds a breast cancer screening program and helps with vital medical
studies, surgery and treatments for patients who cannot afford to pay for them. In 2023,
105 women at Royal Resorts and Grand Residences had mammograms and ultrasound tests thanks
to this health initiative.
A prostate cancer screening program in 2023 helped 500 men working at the resorts.
Physiotherapy for childrenThe Royal Resorts Foundation covers the costs of physiotherapy at the Cancun CRIT Rehabilitation Center for seven children with motor, bone and neuromuscular diseases. They attend the center for regular sessions of physio and hydrotherapy, visits to the speech therapist, hearing specialist and occupational therapist to help improve their mobility, motor and communication skills and give them a better, happier life.
Healthy lifestyleThe Royal Resorts Foundation also promotes a healthy lifestyle and the importance of exercise, supporting Tri Balam, a team of Royal Resorts employees as they train and participate in triathlons.
