Each year, the Royal Resorts Foundation sponsors a class of 36 pupils at Colegio Mano Amiga on the
outskirts of Cancun, enabling them to attend classes in a stable and secure study environment and
giving them hope for a brighter future. We have watched these children grow up and they are now
studying the second year of high school, happy to be catching up with their studies after two years
of online classes and eager to fulfil their dreams of becoming doctors, nurses, teachers or lawyers.
Although access to education is a universal right in Mexico, some children still miss schooling
altogether or have to drop out of school to help support their families. The causes are many
and include extreme poverty, broken homes, children having to care for sick parents or younger
siblings, and other social problems. Part of the Ciudad de la Alegría community center, Colegio
Mano Amiga school gives children in marginalized areas of Cancun an education and the
opportunity for a better life. Thanks to donations from local benefactors like Royal Resorts, the
Mano Amiga School now has more than 850 students on its roll in preschool, primary and
secondary school and senior high.
With your support we can reach out to even more children. Your donations give them a chance
to study, fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams. They are learning in a happy place
where they can enjoy their childhood and have access to a support network to help them as
they begin their life journey.
