60 Earth Hour
60 Earth Hour

On Saturday March 22 at 8:30 p.m., Royal Resorts will be turning off the lights to observe Earth Hour. Organized by the WWF, this global campaign draws attention to the accelerating effects of climate change and biodiversity loss and the pressing need to do everything we can to protect our planet and work towards a better future. This year, the theme of Earth Hour is “Our Power, Our Planet” and it seeks to raise awareness about the importance of switching to renewable energy sources and sustainable development.

Earth Hour at Royal Resorts

Non-essential lights will be switched off around the resorts in Cancun, The Royal Haciendas and Grand Residences by Royal Resorts for one hour, we invite our members and guests to join in by dimming the lights in their villas and attending special Earth Hour activities.

A day of special Earth Hour activities

At Grand Residences, Earth Hour activities will include yoga, beach cleaning, tree planting, recycling art, pool deck fun and a sand sculpture contest. At 8 p.m. there will be a special show by Mystik full of art, dance, acrobatics and fantasy.

The Royal Haciendas will also have a program of Earth Hour activities for families to enjoy, including recycling art, face painting, games and contests, culminating in an evening show. Commemorative Earth Hour t-shirts will be on sale, the proceeds will be donated to support Royal Resorts Foundation causes.

At The Royal Sands, there will be fun activities in the Kids Club to make children aware of the need to protect the planet and an Earth Hour craft session at 9 p.m. For adults there will be an hour of yoga on the Building A terrace from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., the perfect spot for meditation.

Guests at The Royal Cancun are invited to join the Activity and Kids Club teams on the waterfront for a relaxing beach evening from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. with fun games and activities for families to enjoy.

Wherever you are staying, we hope that you will step out on the terrace, gaze up at the stars, listen to the waves and enjoy a moment of communion with nature as you think about the things you can do to help protect the planet.

Millions of people around the world from more than 192 countries take part in Earth Hour every year. The lights on some of the world’s most iconic buildings and landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, the Coliseum, St Peter’s Square and the Acropolis are dimmed for one hour as part of this global event.
