Halloween

If you are planning a family vacation later this month at Halloween, there will be plenty of spooky fun at the resort Kids Clubs to keep the little ones entertained with arts and crafts, games, trick or treat, and candies galore.

If you are staying at The Royal Haciendas, The Royal Sands and The Royal Cancun, be sure to join in the Halloween activities. In addition to the Kids Club program, which ends with a Halloween Party, there will be family activities such as face painting, trick or treat and a scary costume parade.

At Grand Residences, Halloween activities include crafts, the fastest mummy binding contest and a quiz. Children will love the trick or treat parade through the resort followed by a pirate hunt. In the evening there’s a costume party for the whole family.

Altar Día de Muertos

Dia de Muertos

On Dia de Muertos or the Day of the Dead, November 1 and 2, you’ll be able to learn about this timeless Mexican tradition at Royal Resorts.

At Grand Residences activities include decorating a calavera or papier mâché skull. Women often dress up as Catrina, the skeletal figure of Lady Death, and paint their faces and wear flowers in their hair. You can make your own Catrina diadem and jewelry in the afternoon and then join the Activity team on a tour of the traditional altars that team members have erected. At 7:30 p.m. there will be an alebrije show on the pool deck. Alebrijes are colorful, fantastical creatures of imagination, part dragon, part bird, part animal, winged horses, iguanas, turtles, dogs, butterflies, hummingbirds and more that are said to appear to the artisans in dreams.

Keep a look out for colorful Day of the Dead altars around the resorts as team members in different departments will be participating in the annual Dia de Muertos altar competition. You’ll be able to taste traditional dishes such as pan de muerto and hot chocolate that are placed on the altars as offerings to the spirits who return to earth at this time.
