1 p.m. update Tropical Storm Nate is advancing to the north-northwest at about 21 mph/33 km per hour. It will move across the Caribbean Sea this afternoon and move near or over the northeastern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula this evening. It will then move into the southern Gulf of Mexico tonight.
Tropical Storm Nate is currently located about 125 mi/200 km east-southeast of Cozumel and 210 mi./340 km north-northeast of Isla Guanaja, Honduras. Maximum sustained winds are currently 50 mph/85 km/h. with higher gusts. Tropical storm force winds extend up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center. Strengthening is forecast as it moves over the warm waters of the northwestern Caribbean Sea.
A Tropical Storm Warning and Hurricane Watch is in effect for the Mexican Caribbean coastline from Punta Herrero to Río Lagartos in Yucatán, this includes Riviera Maya and Cancún. Tropical Storm Nate will affect Riviera Maya and Cancún later today and into the early hours of Saturday with heavy rain, large waves and windy conditions, with wind gusts of up to 75km/h.

Royal Resorts continues to monitor this storm and given the latest information has decided that it is no longer necessary to move the terrace furniture into your suite. Room Service will be available as normal during the evening; it will not be suspended at 5 p.m. However, as weather conditions worsen during the day, we recommend that you stay away from the beach and remain in the resort.
