Eco trips depart from Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Holbox on a boat ride bound for the whale shark feeding grounds off Holbox and Cabo Catoche and in deeper waters to the east of Contoy and Isla Mujeres. When the fins of the whale sharks are spotted, the guide will escort two people at a time per boat to swim alongside them, keeping a distance.
