In the May edition of The Royal Reporter we told you about the Children’s Day Party on May 3 that the Royal Resorts Foundation was a part of. We thought you might like to see the Royal Channel video and see the smiles on the faces of the children as they played and received gifts.
Dr. Sonrisas A.C., a Mexican charity that works with seriously ill and poor children, coordinated the Children’s Party at Colegio Alamos in Cancún. It organizes events and special activities to put a smile on children’s faces and make their dreams come true. On this occasion it teamed up with three local charities to invite 300 children to the party.
Aitana Foundation helps children with all forms of cancer and leukemia. The type of support offered ranges from financial aid for medicines and transporting patients to hospitals in other cities for treatment to the counseling that will help these brave little warriors through their ordeal and on to the road to recovery.
Manos de Apoyo y Vida (Hands of Support and Life) works with vulnerable homeless street children, befriending them and inviting them to join its support group. Volunteers teach them sports, yoga, tae kwon doo, organize art sessions and give them special classes to help them catch up in elementary school.
La Escuelita (The Little School) was founded by a Cancún resident who noticed that many of the children in her neighborhood were not going to school. She began to invite them to her home to give them elementary school classes. More and more children began to turn up on her doorstep and her friends pitched in to help. They now teach approximately 90 children at elementary school level and help them validate their studies with the Ministry of Public Education.
We would like to thank all our Royal Resorts members, guests and employees who donated toys, and staff from 20 departments who volunteered for this very special Children’s Day event, helping to spread some happiness. It was a fantastic morning, enjoyed by the children and volunteers alike. Watch the video and see the smiles.
