The Mexican Highway Agency (Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transporte, SCT) has begun to replace the tarmac on Kukulcan Boulevard from kilometer 0 at the entrance to the Hotel Zone to kilometer 3.5, coming from Downtown Cancun.
For approximately 15 days, the right-hand lane next to the lagoon along the aforementioned stretch of road into the Hotel Zone will be closed to traffic. The left-hand lane next to the central reservation will remain open.
During the morning rush hour, on the other side of the boulevard traveling towards Downtown Cancun, the left-hand-side lane next to the central reservation will be used to take traffic going into the Hotel Zone.
Due to the volume of cars entering the Hotel Zone from Downtown Cancun there will be traffic lines and congestion for the next couple of weeks, with the risk of delays at peak times. We recommend that you take precautions.
