In a move to boost the Mexican Caribbean tourism industry, the Mexican Chamber of Deputies voted to create a new time zone for the state of Quintana Roo that would give the state an extra hour of daylight and also help improve flight connectivity with cities on the eastern seaboard of the United States. This initiative still has to move through the Senate and will not come into effect until it is published in the Diario Oficial (Official Government Digest) as new legislation, possibly at the end of January. We will share more news about this as it becomes available.
