The tally for the turtle season to date is 15nests and 1,678 eggs at The Royal Sands. The Royal Mayan, Caribbean and Islander are yet to register their first nest. We will keep you posted on the arrival of our special summer visitors and let you know when the eggs hatch and the baby turtles are released. Season highlights so far are a turtle that laid a staggering 160 eggs and a hawksbill turtle, a rare occurrence. Most of the turtles registered in Cancun and the Riviera Maya are green and loggerhead turtles, hawksbills usually nest further north and along the Gulf coast.
