Online travel agency Orbitz has reported that Cancún is the number one summer destination requested by its US customers in 2014.
More than four million tourists visited Cancún in 2013, 1.2 million more than in 2012 and hotel occupancy registered from January to September 2013 was up 13.4 percent on 2012. The growth has continued in 2014 and the latest study published by the Cancún Hotel Association reports 753,157 visitors in the first two months of the year, 9.4 percent more than the same period last year.
A number of countries also registered a significant increase in their number of Cancún-bound visitors for the first two months of the year when compared to 2013.

In more good news for Mexican tourism, the Bank of Mexico reported that the country welcomed 4.5 million international visitors in the first two months of the year, a 15.3 percent increase on the same period in 2013.
