Recycling is finally coming to Cancun in a big way. Starting in 2016, garbage generated in Cancun and Isla Mujeres will be used to generate electricity, compost and recycled plastic, aluminum, cardboard and paper products. All this is due to the inauguration of a new recycling plant in Cancun, built with an investment of 11 million dollars. With a capacity for handling up to 1,200 tons of waste every day, it is the largest recycling plant in Mexico and state of the art in Latin America.
