The Royal Resorts Foundation helps host a monthly get-together for senior citizens in one of the parishes in Cancun. It provides lunch and volunteers from the resorts help serve the guests, spending time with them and making sure that they all enjoy themselves. In April, instead of gathering in the courtyard of the Lourdes church for the monthly event, 135 elderly parishioners were invited to a very special lunch in Hacienda Sisal given by the Foundation.
Our guests of honor boarded the buses normally used to transport Royal Resorts employees and were driven to Hacienda Sisal where they were greeted by Royal Resorts Foundation and Restaurant Division volunteers. Resort gardeners had helped out earlier in the day by decorating the restaurant and making the table centerpieces.
The lunch was spinach-stuffed chicken breast in mushroom sauce served with mashed potato, fruit juice drinks, cake and coffee. As they ate, the guests listened to marimba music performed by the musicians of the Perla del Caribe band who donated their time for the event.
After their meal, the guests had fun participating in dance, fashion and singing contests. As a final touch of pampering, they received gifts and food baskets as the event drew to a close.
This group of senior citizens comes from Lourdes, Santa Cecilia, Maria Auxiliadora and San Juan Bosco parishes. They are poor, do not have family in Cancun to care for them and many are frail. For some, this monthly get-together is their only opportunity to meet up with friends. The Royal Resorts Foundation is happy to support the event.
