For the second year running, Cancun played host to the Cancun & Riviera Maya Wine & Food Festival from March 14 to 17. This important gourmet event brings together chefs from all over the Americas and Europe. This year, the festival featured more than 25 top chefs and four days of events such as cooking demos, wine and food tastings, seminars, gala dinners and VIP events.
The theme of the event was “Taste the New World” and it included a tribute to star Italian chef Massimo Bottura, widely regarded as one of the world’s top five chefs, and to talented Mexican chef Enrique Olvera. Other leading chefs present hailed from Mexico, United States, Spain, Italy, France, Venezuela and Argentina. A number of local chefs and restaurateurs from Cancún and the Riviera Maya also took part and the festival sommeliers were from Mexico, Canada and United States.
Grand Coral hosted the American Express Gourmet Tasting Village showcasing some of the leading restaurants from Cancun and the Riviera Maya, including Los Murales, our signature restaurant at The Royal Haciendas. Grand Residences by Royal Resorts was also one of the festival sponsors and had a stand in the Tasting Village.
Festival founder and longtime Royal Resorts member David Amar announced the first details of the 2014 Festival, which will take place from March 13 to 16. It will feature a celebration of France, also touching on its influence in the New World and showcasing ingredients from the Americas that now occupy pride of place in French cuisine. The line up of star chefs will include leaders from the old country, Mexico and other Latin American countries, United States and Canada.
