During February and March, work took place along Cancun’s shoreline to eliminate the sand “step” that has formed in some areas of the beach as a result of high winds. Engineers from the Electricity Commission also took measurements as part of the beach monitoring program.
In a separate project, the facilities at four of Cancun’s public beaches have also been upgraded. Among the improvements are ramps for the physically challenged, walkways, restrooms, lifeguard stations, more garbage bins and better lighting. The beaches to benefit are Playa Langosta, Playa Marlin, El Mirador II and Playa Nizuc.
