Cirque du Soleil recently unveiled its latest show, the first to be inspired by a country, Mexico. Luzia, which takes its inspiration from the history, music and culture of Mexico, will be taken on tour to 450 cities around the world in the next seven years.

There are five Mexican performers in the troupe of 45 acrobats and dancers from 15 countries who will take Luzia to the stage. The name Luzia is a fusion of the words luz or light and lluvia or rain in Spanish and the show will have all the hallmark Cirque du Soleil touches of magic, dreams and fantasy but with an evocative and colorful Mexican twist.

Luzia is the result of a joint agreement between Cirque du Soleil and the Mexican Tourism Board with an investment of 47.4 million US over five years.
