The Royal Resorts Foundation sponsors seven children attending the Teleton Rehabilitation Centers in Cancun and Merida so that they can get the physical and occupational therapy that they need for improved mobility and better quality of life. As you can see they are growing up and here is their progress report for the first quarter of 2024.

David Matias

David had his regular checkup with the doctor who then plans the next stage of his treatment. Based on the program, he attended 48 physical therapy sessions; six hydrotherapy sessions; 17 Teleton workshops to help him learn new skills and discover his talents, seven occupational therapy sessions to help him with everyday life, six speech therapy classes and had two appointments with the pediatrician and nutritionist. Finally, and he and his family also had eight meetings with the psychologist.

Jacob

Based on Jacob’s regular checkup with his doctor who then plans the next stage of his treatment, he attended 27 physical therapy sessions; eight hydrotherapy sessions, two Teleton workshops to help him learn new skills and discover his talents and one occupational therapy session. He attended four speech therapy sessions to help improve his communication skills and he and his family also had seven meetings with the psychologist.

Maria Angel

After Maria Angel’s regular checkup with her doctor who plans the next stage of her treatment, she attended four physical therapy sessions, one speech therapy session and had appointments with hearing, pediatrics and genetics specialists.

Oliver

Oliver’s regular checkup with his doctor was followed by a program of nine physical therapy sessions, one hydrotherapy session and four appointments with other doctors on the team (two with the pediatrician and two with the neurologist). He had an occupational therapy session and he and his family also had a meeting with the psychologist.

Osmar

Meet Osmar, whose medical checkup was followed by three physical therapy sessions; seven Teleton workshops to help him learn new skills and discover his talents and appointments with the geneticist, psychologist, pediatrician and the nutritionist. He also had four occupational therapy workshops to help him improve the skills he needs for daily life. His treatment included two speech therapy sessions and he and his family also had four meetings with the psychologist.

Susan

After meeting with the doctor for her regular checkup, Susan had 19 physical therapy sessions, 12 hydrotherapy classes and 10 Teleton workshops to help her learn new skills and discover her talents. Susan had an appointment with the pediatrician and she and her family also met with the psychologist seven times for counselling to help them as they come to terms with Susan’s medical condition.

Andrew

Andrew had eight sessions with his rehabilitation doctor who then planned the next stage of his treatment, which included 33 physical therapy sessions, 12 for hydrotherapy, 16 appointments with other specialists (psychologist, psychiatrist, pediatrician and other doctors), 10 Teleton workshops to help learn new skills and discover talents.  He also attended 15 speech therapy sessions to help improve his communication skills.

In 2023, Fundacion Teleton helped 147,844 patients throughout the country including 35,072 children who received therapy at 22 rehabilitation centers and 688 at two hospitals offering specialist care to children with autism and cancer.
