Sometimes plastic waste can be turned to good use to support a worthy cause and as part of the Royal Resorts community work plastic is sold for recycling. In a recent employee campaign at the Royal Resorts in Cancún, staff collected 97 kilos of water and soda plastic bottle tops, which were given to a local charity called Banco de Tapitas to sell for recycling. The proceeds from the sale of the bottle tops are being used to help children with cancer.
Bottle top collection is continuing in Cancun and employees at The Royal Haciendas in the Riviera Maya have joined the cause.
With the financial support provided by Banco de Tapitas, children from low-income families who have been diagnosed with cancer can get the medical studies and treatment they so desperately need.
Guests staying at Royal Resorts in Cancun and at The Royal Haciendas can join this campaign. Separate your plastics, aluminium and cardboard trash and put them in the special bin provided in the villa kitchen. Plastic bottle tops can be given to Housekeeping staff.
