If you are Riviera Maya-bound this summer, here’s a guide to new activities and experiences to enjoy at The Royal Haciendas.

New activities

For pickleball fans, there are two new pickleball courts at the resort giving a total of four in the multi-sports court area. For tennis players, we have the two courts for match play with family and friends and clinics with the pro during the week.

If you are joining us in July and August you’ll also be able to try your hand at riding the toro or mechanical bull, a fun summer activity that your Activity team friends have lined up for you.

We hope you’ll also enjoy our new mood music program, carefully chosen to enrich your experiences as you enjoy time on the sun deck, in the gardens and other guest areas.

Monday night is Mexican night

Join us on Monday for Mexican Night, an evening of traditions, color and lots of live music. Tuck into a traditional buffet full of mouthwatering Mexican dishes at La Palapa del Sol, enjoy live Mexican music with Voces de la Tierra and then make your way to the stage in Phase 2 for a colorful folk dance show at 8 p.m. After the show, the pace picks up as there’s more live music with a tropical tempo in La Rotonda Bar. Your feet will start tapping to the Latin beat and you’ll soon be out on the dance floor.

The terraces, gardens and hacienda architecture make The Royal Haciendas the perfect setting for an evening that celebrates Mexican culture and you’ll be raising your glass in a toast and the shout Viva Mexico.

After Mexican Night, you’ll be ready to enjoy the other theme nights at the resort during the week. The current lineup is:

Saturday: Caribbean Night
Sunday: Brazilian Rodizio Night
Monday: Mexican Night
Tuesday: Steak and lobster Night
Wednesday: Italian Night
Thursday: Rock & Roll BBQ with live music and a show
Friday: Asian Night.

Theme night buffets are served from 6 to 10 p.m. Program is subject to change without prior notice.

Additionally, book your spot for the open-air Night and Fire Teppanyaki Experience at Luna Grill on Wednesday evening, two sittings at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Reservations are required. Every other day of the week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. you can enjoy gourmet pizzas at Pizza Luna in the same location.

Tasty poolside lunches

Join us at the kiosk in Phase 2 to try some of our delicious new lunch specials, there’s a different one every day:

Monday: Tacos
Tuesday: Robatayaki (new in 2024)
Wednesday: Smoke BBQ (new in 2024)
Thursday: Fried fish
Friday: Grilled chicken mezcal-style
Sunday: Paella

Seafood platter available every day

And be sure to try our new specials at Sol and Luna Grill: shrimp ceviche served in a coconut with mango and pineapple and a pineapple and seafood fondue.

Culinary Experiences by Royal Resorts

In addition to a la carte menus, buffets and theme nights, each month our chefs have new dishes for you to try as part of Culinary Experiences by Royal Resorts, a program that delivers more tempting dining options wherever you are staying. The offerings range from traditional Mexican pastries served at breakfast to poolside lunch choices, cool mixology, ice cream flavors and showstopper chef’s specials in Los Murales and Kinoko. There are even days celebrating a popular dish from the world kitchen such as sushi or ceviche. Be sure to ask your waiter what’s new and prepare for some delicious surprises.

There is always something new to buy at your resort store, recent additions include fruit-based cooling beverages, nuts and snacks, locally made chocolates and spicy salsas and Royal Resorts logo souvenirs.

Alea Spa

Make spa time part of your vacation this summer at Alea Spa. Choose your favorite massage, facial or body wrap and ask about some of the new add-on experiences now available, they include massages for the eye area, the face and feet.

If you are a frequent spa goer, you’ll notice the new showers in the body treatment area, part of the Spa’s work to enhance the customer experience.

The Gym

An elliptical fitness machine and sets of dumbbells were replaced this year at The Royal Haciendas gym.

Wine & Cheese Members Cocktail

Don’t miss the Wine & Cheese for The Royal Haciendas members at La Rotonda Bar. Every Friday from 5 to 6 p.m., live music with Jorge Duran.

New look for the travel desk

Check out the new video wall at the Thomas More travel desk in the lobby and find inspiration for your next day trip. Watch film clips promoting tours from the Thomas More Travel collection of day trips, water sports and unforgettable travel experiences.

Dive Balam

As the floating barrier has now been installed in the bay to protect against sargassum seaweed landings, Dive Balam boats are unable to depart from the resort at this time. During the summer, guests booking Dive Balam services will be transported to Playa del Carmen where they will board their dive boat.
