The Travel Gallery

Here’s our monthly gallery showcasing some of the region’s many natural and historical attractions. How many have you visited?  Which ones would you like to explore on future visits to Royal Resorts?

5th Avenue, Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen

From its beautiful beaches and waterfront bars to Quinta Avenida, the heart of the action for shopping, dining and music, the vibrant capital of the Riviera Maya is full of life. Have a beach afternoon, relaxing under a palm tree or palapa as you sip a cocktail and look towards the island of Cozumel on the horizon and then get ready to join Playa’s very own passeggiata along ‘La Quinta’ as soon as the sun goes down.

Uxmal

Uxmal

An hour’s drive south of Mérida, Uxmal is one of the loveliest ancient cities in the Maya World. Its architectural wonders include the Magician’s Pyramid, the Nuns’ Quadrangle, which is a courtyard surrounded by four palaces, the Palace of the Governor, Casa de la Tortuga, the Gran Piramide and El Palomar. If you decide to overnight in one of the nearby hotels in order to explore the other archaeological sites on the Puuc Route in the morning, it is worth returning to Uxmal in the evening to see the impressive video mapping.

Xochimilco

Xoximilco

How about a floating Mexican fiesta this month? Set sail one evening on a colorful trajinera or Mexican-style gondola at Xoximilco Park. Your voyage will take you along canals through the forest into a world of Mexican traditions, delicious food, music and dance.

Cenote Dos Ojos

Dos Ojos

How about a day of swimming and snorkeling in some of the Riviera Maya’s most beautiful cenotes at Dos Ojos. With an expert guide, certified cave divers can also explore flooded caves that are part of one of the world’s longest underground river systems.
