Hurricane Delta is currently located about 150 mi /245 km SSW of Negril in Jamaica and 220 mi/355 km SSE of Grand Cayman and is strengthening rapidly as it moves through the Caribbean.

Due to its forecast track, the Mexican Government has declared a Hurricane Warning for the coast of Quintana Roo stretching northwards from Tulum to Rio Lagartos on the Gulf coast of the Yucatan, including Cozumel.

Delta will approach the northeast coast of Quintana Roo and the Yucatan Channel on Tuesday afternoon or evening before moving into the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds are 75 mph120 km/h. with higher gusts. Hurricane force winds extend outwards up to 15 mi/ 25 km. Tropical storm force winds extend 70 mi/110 km from the center. Delta is moving towards the west-northwest at 8 mph/13 km.  Further strengthening is expected and it will be a major hurricane by the time it nears the Yucatan Peninsula.

Delta will bring wind, rain, a storm surge of four to seven feet above normal levels and large waves along the coast within the hurricane warning area.
