For the fifth year running, Cancun scooped up a World Travel Award as the Best Beach Destination in Mexico and Central America. The Cancun Visitors and Convention Bureau was also a winner in its category. The awards ceremony took place at the World Travel Market in London, November 2-5.
Mexico was the guest country at the World Travel Market this year to mark the UK-Mexico Dual Year of cultural, commercial and educational ties. It is also a sign of the growing interest that the United Kingdom market has in Mexico and the rich travel experiences that it offers.
More than 400,000 visitors from the United Kingdom already travel to the Mexican Caribbean every year and the number is growing. In terms of international visitors, the United Kingdom now represents the third most important market for Mexico, after the United States and Canada.
