Spirit has announced new daily flights from Chicago and Baltimore for the winter season. And starting June 9, 2018, Southwest Airlines will be offering new flights from St. Louis, Raleigh-Durham and Pittsburgh for the summer season.
For Canadian visitors, Mexican airline Interjet now has four weekly flights to Mexico City and Cancun from Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
Cancun Airport reports 8.4 percent increase in the number of international arrivals in 2017
In other Cancun flight news, ASUR, the company that manages Cancun International Airport, announced that it received 1.85 million domestic and international passengers in November 2017, an 8.5 percent increase over the same month last year. As of November 2017, 21.4 million passengers had passed through the airport, a 10.5 percent increase when compared to the same period in 2016. The total of international arrivals as of November 2017 stood at 14.3 million, 8.4 percent up on 2016. With the opening of Terminal 4 in November and the continued expansion of Cancun as a hub for domestic, regional and international flights, this figure is set to grow further in the years to come.
