The Mayakoba Golf Classic PGA Tour event teed off at El Camaleon Golf Club from November 11 to 17. This tournament brings together a field of 132 golfers and the 2019 competitors included Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Graeme McDowell, tournament winners from previous years, former World No. 1 Luke Donald, World Golf Hall of Fame member Davis Love III, 2014 FedEx Champion Billy Horschel and current FedEx Cup points leader Lanto Griffin.
Carlos Ortiz and up and coming player Abraham Ancer led the contingent of Mexican players. Ancer is in the International team for the upcoming President’s Cup, the first Mexican player to participate in the biennial event.
The winner of the 2019 tournament was Brendon Todd To Par -20 with a total score of 264. He was awarded with a check for US$1,296,000 and also notched up 500 FedEx Cup Points. It was a three-way tie for second place between Carlos Ortiz, Adam Long and Vaughn Taylor To Par -19 with total score of 265. They received a check for US$544,800 and 208 FedEx Cup points each. Harris English was in fifth place.
With this victory, Brendon Todd wins back-to-back PGA tournaments and moves to first place in the FedEx Cup standings. For Calor Ortiz it was a career-best performance and Abraham Ancer also finished in the top 10.
