Plaza Reforma, the square in front of City Hall on Avenida Tulum, Downtown Cancun will soon be expanded and renovated in time for Cancun’s 50th birthday celebrations in April. The existing trees and gardens will not be affected and additional trees and shrubs will be planted. The street lights and building lights will also be changed for softer lighting used in other squares around Mexico. The idea is to make the square a pleasanter spot for locals and visitors to gather in the evenings, perhaps combining it with a stroll along Nader Ave where a collection of restaurants, bars and cafes has sprung up.
