School’s out

The class of 6th graders at Colegio Mano Amiga receiving scholarships from the Royal Resorts Foundation have just finished another year at school.

After two challenging years of the pandemic during which they had to attend online classes, something that was even more difficult for students who did not have access to home computers, they were thrilled to be back at school this year.

Our students’ grades for the third semester ranged from 7.5 to 10 and they all graduated with the level needed to continue to secondary school. These shining stars are looking forward to the next stage of their education in September, to new studies and opportunities and the chance to improve their grades after the difficulties they faced during the pandemic. We wish them every success for the future.

Three of them had these messages for their Royal Resorts supporters.

Mariyany

“Hello, I am Mariyani and I’m studying sixth grade. I’m so grateful to be studying and I thank you for your support and for the Royal Resorts Foundation. God bless you all.

One of the best things that can happen to you in life is to have a happy childhood.”

Helen

“Thank you to all our sponsors for your support and for caring, you are helping children get to be someone in life and follow their dreams, to become doctors, teachers, vets, empresarios and more. I want to be a lawyer and not any lawyer, I want to be one of the best lawyers in the world. I’ll defend those who cannot defend themselves and I promise I won’t let you down. I can say this for my fellow students too. We want to make you proud of us.

I would love to meet you some day and I say that from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you, with love and affection for all our sponsors.”

Cielo

“Hello, my name is Cielo. I am writing this letter to tell you about my achievements, everything that I have learned this year. I thank God and my sponsors for the scholarship. My grades have been good this year, something that is very important for me. I know that tomorrow I’ll be able to reach new goals, go to college and get a degree. So, thank you to everyone who supported me and made it possible for me to have this scholarship. I’m going to keep working hard.

Together we transform lives

Thank you and God bless you”

Colegio Mano Amiga

Despite universal access to public primary and secondary education in Mexico, many children still lack schooling or drop out of school to help support their families. The causes are many and include extreme poverty, migration, language barriers, a disturbed family background and other social problems. In 2009, the Ciudad de la Alegria community center opened the Mano Amiga nursery and school to give children from low-income households in marginalized areas of Cancun an education and the opportunity for a better life. Thanks to donations from local benefactors like Royal Resorts, the Mano Amiga School now has more than 1,050 students on its roll.

With your help, we can reach out to even more children. Your donations give them a chance to study, fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams. They are learning in a happy, safe place where they can enjoy their childhood, eat nutritious meals and have access to regular medical checkups.

If you would like to continue supporting these sixth graders at Colegio Mano Amiga and give them a better future, donate to the Royal Resorts Foundation online.

Physiotherapy for children

In other Royal Resorts Foundation news, six children with motor and neurological challenges are getting the physiotherapy they need to improve their mobility and their lives. Five of them are attending the Cancun Rehabilitation Center (CRIT) and the other one has begun the first year of treatment at a similar center in Merida.

In addition to education and physiotherapy for children, the Royal Resorts Foundation also supports cancer screening, conservation and gives help to employees in times of crisis such as a major illness or surgery through the Employee Relief Fund.
