School’s out for summer at Colegio Mano Amiga in the Ciudad de Alegria in Cancun and Royal Resorts Foundation representatives were invited to attend the first graders open school end of term event. The Royal Resorts Foundation provides study scholarships for this entire class of first graders, 35 children.
As part of the open school, children were tested on their knowledge of Spanish, mathematics, English and animals, in this case, the jaguar. Some of the questions were asked on an individual basis and when they got a question right they moved forward a row, and to the back of the class when they answered incorrectly. This was followed by a problem solving session in groups.
At the end of the event, the Headmaster presented diplomas to three star pupils for their outstanding performance during the year and praised all the children saying that they were all champions.

Colegio Mano Amiga students come from poor families, often from single parent households, migrant families or vulnerable backgrounds sometimes overshadowed by domestic violence, health and other problems that would make it impossible for the child to continue his/her studies if it were not for this support. The school provides primary, secondary and preparatory level studies and pupils also receive nutritious meals, medical care and guidance to give them the confidence they need to pursue their dreams.
Collecting school materials
In other Royal Resorts Foundation news, Royal Resorts employees recently organized a collection of school materials, new and second-hand, to donate to disadvantaged children in the Tres Reyes community on the outskirts of Cancun.
The Royal Resorts Foundation accepts donations of educational material, new toys and used clothing (children and adults) in good condition all year round if you would like to help.
