Are you staying at Royal Resorts in Cancun or the Riviera Maya this summer? Here’s a Royal Resorts dining tip, try some of the tasty seasonal snacks on sale by the pool in the different resorts. Here are some of the treats in store for you:

The Royal Islander
Try discada, a traditional mixed meat dish from northern Mexico that owes its name to the iron disc – originally an old farm plough disc – that is used to cook it over an open flame. Bacon, beef, pork, chorizo, onion, tomato, garlic, bell peppers, serrano chili and a dash of beer feature in the dish and it is served with tortillas. Available on Wednesday and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m.

There’s also fried fish daily and poolside paella for lunch on Thursdays (limited availability).

The Royal Cancun
It’s taco night by the beach bar every night except Saturday this summer. There’s also a fresh fried fish special available poolside during the day

The Royal Sands
Try the chef’s tasty paella on Sunday and snack on char-grilled chicken, fried fish, shrimp or fish ceviche and refreshing fresh fruit and vegetable crudités served Mexican style with chili powder and lime wedges. You’ll find them on sale poolside during the week.

The Royal Caribbean
Work up an appetite for a poolside lunch of pescado frito or fried fish or seafood ceviche

The Royal Haciendas
Snack on ceviche during the day and try the Teppanyaki Night on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Reservations required.

Pozórale! Pozole Thursday at Hacienda Sisal
Have you tried Hacienda Sisal Pozole Thursday, if not, pozórale, which means “go on then!” Every Thursday, Hacienda Sisal serves up this hearty Mexican broth for lunch or dinner.

Pozole comes in three varieties: rojo (made with tomato and dried chilis), verde (made with green tomatillo, epozote or cilantro, jalapeño chili and pepitas) and blanco (clear broth; all include pork or chicken and cacahuazintle corn kernels (hominy).

Once the broth is served, diners then top it with the traditional pozole garnishes: shredded lettuce or cabbage, finely chopped onion and chili, sliced radishes, tostadas, chili, oregano and lime and tuck in.

So remember, pozole is on the menu every Thursday at Hacienda Sisal for lunch or dinner. Located next to The Royal Sands, Hacienda Sisal is open daily from 2 to 11 p.m.
