The US Department of Homeland Security has been implementing more stringent security checks on incoming international flights in recent months and as of late July this now includes an additional inspection of passengers’ laptops and tablets on flights to the United States from Mexico and Canada.

The Mexican Department of Transportation announced that the new inspection applies to all electronic appliances larger than a cellphone. Tablets and laptops will be examined without their covers or cases and passengers are recommended to stow as few electronic devices as possible in carry-on luggage.

Passengers on international flights are recommended to arrive at the airport three hours before departure time.
