In light of recent media reports about alcohol in the Mexican Caribbean, Royal Resorts would like to share the following information with you to answer any questions you may have about the beverages you consume on vacation.
At Royal Resorts® the safety and wellbeing of members and guests is our top priority. We would like to reassure you that only well-known quality brands of spirits, wines and beers are served in our restaurants and bars.
All bottles of liquor are sealed when purchased from licensed wine and spirits merchants in compliance with government regulatory standards.
Furthermore, the restaurants at all our resorts are certified by the Mexican Ministry of Tourism with the Distintivo H, a certification granted to establishments that comply with the highest hygiene, food preparation and quality standards.
You can see the list of beverage brands included in the REFINE All-Inclusive package available at The Royal Cancun, The Royal Sands and The Royal Haciendas in the following link: https://www.royalresorts.com/brandsofalcohol
In addition to Distintivo H certification, in Cancún, the Riviera Maya and other parts of Mexico, hotels, restaurants and bars are regularly inspected by COFEPRIS, the Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks. COFEPRIS inspectors review hygiene and food handling and quality and provenance of food and liquor among other things and standards are strict.
With more than 98,000 hotel rooms, the Mexican Caribbean is one of the world’s leading travel destinations and it welcomes more than 11 million visitors every year. The area is home to leading international hotel chains and hospitality industry standards are high. The visitor satisfaction rate stands at 95 percent (source: Quintana Roo State Tourism Board).
Overall, Mexico welcomed 35 million international visitors in 2016 and has climbed to position number eight in the world’s most visited countries.
We would also like to share a press release (PDF) issued by the Mexican Ministry of Tourism on the results of alcohol testing carried out during inspections of hotels, restaurants and bars in Cancun and the Riviera Maya in 2017. Click here to read
