The state of Yucatan will host two world events in 2019 and 2020. State capital Merida will play host to the 17th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates from September 19 to 22, an event for world peace, diplomacy and building a better society.

Over the years, the World Summits of Nobel Peace Laureates have been attended by world leaders and Nobel Peace Laureates such as the Dalai Lama, Rigoberta Menchu, Lord David Trimble, Presidents Mikhail Gorbachev, Lech Walesa and Jimmy Carter. Thousands of people are expected to gather in Merida for panels, seminars and debates.

In 2020, the eyes of the travel world will turn to Yucatan as it hosts the Tianguis Turistico, Mexico’s famous Travel Fair, one of the tourism industry’s most important trade shows.
