Mexican seafood recipes

Enjoy an evening of Mexican flavors and fresh seafood at Hacienda Sisal, next to The Royal Sands.  Order the shrimp in lime sauce or shrimp fajitas or enchiladas, the tasty pastor-style grilled octopus, salmon in a mezcal and orange sauce, lobster or the catch of the day. Your fish can be cooked in ajillo sauce or marinated a la talla, or zarandeado and grilled, both recipes from the Pacific coast.

On Tuesday and Thursday, your Hacienda Sisal seafood comes with a Mexican serenade as the Voces de la Tierra quartet plays traditional melodies, and on Wednesday it is the turn of the mariachis to perform.

Seafood with a view

Ceviche, seafood cocktails, aguachiles and mouthwatering Baja-style fish and shrimp tacos are lunch favorites at La Palapa in The Royal Cancun. The views of shimmering turquoise waters and the white sails of yachts crossing the bay are simply spectacular and the ambiance is classic Caribbean.

Mediterranean flavors

Carpaccio or calamari for starters, followed by spaghetti or risotto frutti di mare, scampi, or fish cooked in salt sprinkled with lemon and orange juice and zest, enjoy classic Italian dishes and seafood cooked with Mediterranean flavors at La Trattoria in The Royal Cancun.

Grand seafood

If you are bound for Grand Residences, mouthwatering seafood lunch options await you in El Faro Grill. For starters try the ceviche or an Acapulco-style shrimp cocktail.  A flavorful seaman’s baguette filled with stewed shrimp, Baja-style shrimp tacos and linguine tutto mare seafood pasta are favorites. For a fusion of flavors try the marinated chipotle salmon tacos. The catch of the day is served marinated and grilled talla style, which is an Acapulco specialty, and the seafood grill includes calamari, fish and shrimp cooked with garlic, Cajun spices, lemon and paprika.

Seafood choices for dinner in El Faro range from tuna tataki to crab cakes, smoked salmon and mussels au gratin as a starter. As an alternative, order creamy clam chowder served in a bread bowl. Main courses include clam capellini, Thai-style grouper fillet and harra shrimp.

For Mexican seafood recipes plan to have dinner in Flor de Canela during your stay where you’ll find seafood dishes from the Mexican Caribbean and traditional recipes from Pacific fishing communities. For a starter order shrimp aguachile negro (its color is from the ashes of seared habanero chili) with corn chips and salsas for sharing, tuna or octopus tacos. Main course seafood dishes include tikinxic or Mayan-style marinated and grilled fish, shrimp fajitas, chile relleno with shrimp, and don’t miss the succulent local lobster al mojo de ajo or garlic sauce when it is in season.

Tasty fresh shrimp tacos, an ice-cold beer, soft sand between your toes and a view of paradise, Heaven Beach Bar is the place to start savoring seafood. As a change from the all-time favorite Baja-style tacos, the mixed seafood ceviche, Nikkei-style tuna tostada and the salmon duo sashimi are all delicious choices.
