The Travel Gallery
Here’s our monthly gallery showcasing some of the region’s many natural and historical attractions. How many have you visited? Which ones would you like to explore on future visits to Royal Resorts?
Isla Mujeres
Hop over to Cancun’s Caribbean sister island, it’s only a 20-minute boat ride away. Rent a golf cart and drive to Punta Sur, the island’s southern headland, for breathtaking views of turquoise waters and the Cancun skyline and a glimpse of the vestiges of an ancient Maya temple. Then spend the day at Garrafon Park or at Playa Norte and be sure to stay on for the sunset.
Puerto Morelos
Start 2024 by spending a morning in Puerto Morelos, the atmospheric fishing village that is the gateway to the Riviera Maya. Find a palapa for some beach time or go snorkeling along the offshore reef. Grab a coffee and ice cream in the main square or snack on fresh seafood along the waterfront. If you have already read all your beach books, browse the shelves at Alma Libre bookstore just off the main square, you are always sure to find something to interest you.
For a fun day of jungle adventures with the family, visit Selvatica or one of the cenote parks in the forest along the Ruta de los Cenotes.
Akumal
Spend the day on the beach at Akumal in the Riviera Maya. This sheltered, palm-lined bay is a family favorite for swimming and snorkeling. You may even spot one of the turtles that give the bay its Maya name “place of the turtles.”
Tulum
Taking in the breathtaking views of the Caribbean from this ancient clifftop city is the perfect way to start the year. Breathe deeply, listen to the breeze and the cries of the birds and savor the moment.
Thomas More Travel can help you arrange trips to these sites of interest and many more in the Mexican Caribbean and the Yucatan.
