Hurricane Delta has now moved away from the Mexican Caribbean coast and is heading northwest through the Yucatan towards the Gulf of Mexico. It made landfall between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen as a Category 3 storm and has now weakened to Category 2 with winds of 105 mph/165 km.
All the guests who were evacuated to the hurricane shelters downtown yesterday afternoon are well and are being looked after by brigades of staff. Management is waiting for the authorities to reopen the roads to the Hotel Zone in order to begin moving guests back to the resorts.
