The 35th Cancun Marathon takes place this Saturday, December 7 with 5,800 athletes competing in the 42k and 21k, 10k and 5k races.

This year the Rock n’ Roll Marathon has a new race route encompassing more avenues in Downtown Cancun and the event program also includes a rock concert.

There will be road closures along the race route causing traffic disruption and delays.

Starting Friday at 3 p.m. there will be partial closures of several avenues in Downtown Cancun in preparation for the race. The avenues affected are Tulum Ave, Nader Ave. between Coba Ave. and Chichen Itza Ave. and Bonampak Ave. between Uxmal Ave. and Chichen Itza Ave. They will reopen at 8 p.m.

At 5 a.m. on Saturday, Kabah Ave. will be partially closed between La Luna Ave. and Mayapan Ave.

From 11 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. the following avenues will be partially closed for the race, Kabah Ave., Bonampak Ave., El Table residential area at the entrance to the Hotel Zone, Nichupte Ave., Sayil Ave. and Kukulcan Boulevard in the Hotel Zone as far as Hotel Melody Maker.

If you are planning to go to Downtown Cancun on Friday evening or Saturday should bear in mind that your journey may take longer than normal.

On Saturday, access to and from the Hotel Zone will be via the Airport road. If you have any questions please ask at the Front Desk. Check with Thomas More Travel if you are departing on Saturday and have booked your transport.
