Try a traditional Mexican dish at Hacienda Sisal Restaurant in Cancun: Pozole. This tasty soup is full of pork or chicken and hominy and is topped with lettuce, radishes, onion and crispy tostadas. Hacienda Sisal Pozole Thursday or Jueves Pozolero is every Thursday and for $180 pesos per person you can tuck into the Pozole Thursday Buffet and get an agua fresca drink and dessert included.

The Pozole buffet features the three different types of pozole: rojo, verde or blanco with pork or chicken. Pozole rojo is flavored with dried guajillo or ancho chilies and comes from Jalisco.

Pozole verde or green pozole is from Guerrero. This recipe includes jalapeño and poblano chilies, green tomatillos and coriander.

Pozole blanco or white pozole is the clear broth with meat and hominy.

Once you have filled your bowl with the broth, pile it high with the traditional accompaniments: shredded lettuce, onion, radishes, coriander, dried oregano, chili piquin and crispy tostadas. It is a tasty Mexican treat, often served at fiestas and family gatherings.

The Hacienda Sisal Pozole Thursday lunch offer includes a non-alcoholic agua fresca drink and dessert.

Of course you can also order a shot of tequila, an ice-cold beer or one of the Hacienda’s famous margaritas (not included in the Pozole Thursday special).

The Hacienda Sisal Pozole Thursday buffet is available from 1 to 4 p.m.
