Are you in the mood for seafood this vacation? Enjoy a casual lunch of tasty shrimp or fish tacos with an ice-cold beer or how about choosing the catch of the day at Captain’s Cove, one of Cancun’s top seafood restaurants? Try locally sourced fish such as snapper, grouper and boquinete grilled or cooked to a traditional Mexican recipe. Whether you order freshly made ceviche, seared tuna or juicy Caribbean lobster, your seafood will always be delicious and brimming with flavor.

Your waterfront table is waiting at Captain’s Cove. Enjoy mouthwatering fruits de mer, a signature passion fruit mojito or apple martini and spectacular sunsets in a beautiful lagoonside setting.

Start your meal by choosing from a tempting array of appetizers. There’s salmon or tuna carpaccio, mussels in white wine sauce, seafood ceviches, fried calamari and shrimp and fish tacos.   Other choices include shrimp and pork dumplings with a hint of the Orient, Acapulco-style shrimp cocktail and shrimp and scallop aguachile, a recipe from Mexico’s Pacific coast.

Order a hearty seafood broth cooked to a traditional recipe from the island of Holbox, shrimp broth or New England-style clam chowder.

When it comes to the catch of the day at Captain’s Cove, grouper, snapper, mahi-mahi, salmon, boquinete or snook are on the menu. Choose your favorite and order it grilled, fried, sautéed or blackened. Order a sauce to accompany it, they range from almandine, aioli, meunière to mild chili and teriyaki glaze. The seared tuna coated in a three-pepper spice mix is subtle and sophisticated and other popular choices are the grouper fillet stuffed with lobster and shrimp and the delicate steamed fish cooked in a bamboo basket with cilantro pesto and fresh vegetables.

If it is shrimp you are craving order them sauteéd in lime and tequila sauce, or garlic butter, golden-fried with coconut and a tangy dipping sauce or with fettuccine.

Lobster tail cooked to perfection and served under a starlit sky is Caribbean dining at its best and a classic favorite at Captain’s Cove.

Other Captain’s Cove dishes include stuffed crab and crab cakes, octopus and seafood pizza, frutti di mare pasta and risotto. And if you cannot decide what to order, why not share the seafood surprise for two and enjoy lobster, shrimp, grouper fillet, calamari, mussels and scallop sautéed with garlic?

Yet there’s much more on the menu than superbly flavored seafood. Order a prime grilled steak, BBQ ribs, chicken breast stuffed with panela cheese, fresh tomato and pesto sauce or the creamy asparagus risotto. Don’t miss Prime Rib Night on Saturday and Wednesday or the Sunday Brunch from 8 a.m.

Come for a sunset cocktail at Captain’s Cove and stay on for dinner under the stars. After your meal step next door to Pancho & Willy’s Bar for drinks, music and karaoke during the week.

Captain’s Cove is open daily from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Saturday and from 2 p.m to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Happy Hour 4 to 7 p.m. Pancho & Willy’s Bar is open from 4 p.m. Located on the shores of the lagoon opposite the Cancun Maya Museum in the Hotel Zone. www.captainscoverestaurant.com
