Around 4,000 international competitors and local runners alike will be taking part in the 30th Annual Cancun Marathon which takes place at night on December 6.

The race starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday and there are three different categories: 42 kilometers, 21 kilometers and 5 kilometers. The route followed by the runners covers Malecón Tajamar (lagoonside, opposite the Malecon Las Americas Shopping Center), Calle Antonio Enriquez Savignac, Kukulcan Boulevard as far as El Mirador at Km 18 and back again.

We hope that you will join us in wishing all competitors the best of luck and that you will give them a cheer to spur them on as they pass our resorts.

The staging of this race and the marathon route will cause disruption to traffic and delays on Friday night and Saturday; therefore we recommend that you take this into account when planning dining and other activities this Saturday.

• The roads along the marathon route will be closed to traffic starting 12 p.m. on Saturday and will reopen at 10 p.m (estimated).

• All traffic entering the Hotel Zone will do so via the Airport road and will exit the Hotel Zone at Km 0 on Kukulcan Boulevard.

• If you are going to Downtown Cancun from your resort, please note that only two lanes will be open for traffic.

• At 3 p.m. on Friday Malecón Tajamar will be closed to traffic from the Avenida Nichupte-Avenida Bonampak crossroads to the Bullring.

• At 12 noon on Saturday Avenida Bonampak and Kukulcan Boulevard leading from the Downtown entrance to the Hotel Zone will be cordoned off completely.

If you have any questions please ask at the Front Desk and check with Thomas More Travel if you are departing on Saturday afternoon and have booked your transport.
