The expanded Terminal 3 at Cancun International Airport was re-inaugurated on March 2, with more than 12,000 square meters of additional space, six new boarding lounges, restaurants and stores. Construction of Terminal 4 is also underway and work has started on the new three-story building. The expansion is slated for completion in the second half of 2017 and will boost the airport’s capacity to almost 28 million passengers a year.
In other news, Aeromexico and Canadian airline WestJet have signed a code sharing agreement that gives passengers in both countries access to a larger destination network, more connections and other benefits to make their journey easier.
American Airlines launched new Saturday flights to Cancun from Raleigh-Durham, Kansas City, Nashville and Pittsburgh this month.
Colombian airline Viva Colombia has also introduced a new direct flight linking Cancun and Medellin with service four times a week.
