The latest flight update includes the welcome news that Mexican airline Volaris will launch several routes in the Maya World in June, making travel between major cities and attractions is southeast Mexico and Central America much easier. The new routes are Guatemala City to Cancun, Villahermosa-Cancun and Tuxtla Gutierrez-Cancun. On July 2, it will also begin flying to the city of San Juan in Puerto Rico, a major hub in the Caribbean.

Also in July, TAM will start direct flights from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Cancun twice a week. Other new flights linking Latin American capitals with Cancun were announced by Avianca, which will now be operating three flights a week from Lima, Peru and Aerolineas Argentinas with a Cordoba-Cancun service scheduled to start in January and February 2016.

Stateside, Southwest Airlines is now flying the San Antonio-Cancun route and Mexican airline Volaris has inaugurated a flight from Newark to Cancun.

On October 15, Southwest Airlines will also add a Houston to Cancun flight and the Sunwing travel company will launch a new direct service from Windsor, Ontario to Cancun on December 21.

Several European airlines recently announced new routes or additional flights planned for the summer to cater to growing demand,. They include Vueling, which has boosted its services from London and Blue Panorama, an Italian charter airline flying from Milan to Cancun and Merida.
