The Mexican Tourism Board reported that the country welcomed 29,090,000 million visitors in 2014, an increase from the 2013 figures of 24 million. The positive trend is continuing in 2015 and Mexico has regained its top 10 position in the rankings of countries receiving the most international visitors.
Revenue from tourism also increased by 16.5 percent in 2014 according to the Bank of Mexico and that the principal destinations contributing to this rise were Cancun, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara and Mexico City.
In local news, Cancun Hotel Association statistics reveal that Cancun and Puerto Morelos welcomed 4,922,978 international visitors in 2014 and the Riviera Maya finished the year with an additional 3,297,000 tourists.
