Royal Resorts is always looking for ways to enhance your vacation experience and the feedback received from members and guests from channels such as the Advisory Councils, the guest satisfaction survey you complete after your stay, weekly First to Know seminars for members, meetings with the Guest Service Managers and other sources is of the utmost importance.
As a result of member feedback, a number of improvements have been made at the resorts in recent years, including the installation of pool lifts and improving access to the beach for members and guests with physical challenges, childproof locks for terrace doors, upgrades to villa appliances, fittings and Wi-Fi, security cameras, the addition of handrails in public areas and the application of better anti-slip products for tiles and walkways, among others.
Resort Management works hard to maintain the resorts in tip-top condition, always looking for ways to improve efficiency, save on water and electricity, control costs and keep annual Club Service Fee increases to a minimum. It budgets conservatively and strict audits are carried out during the year to ensure that expenditure is on track and to make savings where possible. Annual resort operating budgets are reviewed and approved by the Advisory Councils.
Upcoming projects at the resorts include more daily activities such as sports, crafts and contests at The Royal Caribbean and The Royal Islander to cater for increased demand. The Activities team will be repeating activities on different days and in additional time slots. One new activity that is proving very popular is the visit to the Cancun Maya Museum.
At The Royal Cancun, the Activities Center will be launching an environmental program later this year with fun and informative activities for families. The activities showcase the mangrove forest, coral reef, endangered species, native plants and Mayan culture. The botanical garden at the resort and a new aquarium in the activities center will be incorporated into the sessions, in addition to beach walks and a kayak tour through the mangroves for adults and teens.
The Furniture Refurbishment Project at The Royal Sands will begin later this year and up to 60 villas may be remodeled depending on occupancy. This program will take several years to complete and is financed by a separate FF & E cash reserve in the resort budget.
The tennis courts at The Royal Islander will also be repaired this year.
Member and guest feedback about service problems or rules is addressed with more training, increased supervision, and in some cases has led to the recruitment of additional staff.
