To cover increased demand, another company is now offering a ferry service from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen. Barcos Caribe has two new catamarans with capacity for 398 and 336 passengers respectively and will make the crossing at regular intervals during the day. The first ferry to depart Cozumel bound for Playa is at 5 a.m. and the company will also cater to late night passengers returning to the island with departures starting at 11 p.m. from Playa del Carmen.
