The Royal Resorts Foundation has also launched a Christmas Toy Drive at the resorts to collect gifts for sick and needy children in Cancun. The first batch of toys so generously donated by members, guests and staff was distributed at a huge Dia del Sonrisa children’s party on November 29 organized by Mexican charity Dr. Sonrisas.

A total of 156 children had a morning of non-stop fun at this “Smiles Day” party, enjoying a hectic program of activities that featured an extract from Frozen, performed by members of a youth theater; sports and Mexican fair games, face painting, a dance show, a photo with Santa, the traditional piñata and parting gifts.

The event took place at Los Alamos School and, as they did at the Dr. Sonrisas Children’s Party in May, many of thigh school students turned out to help escort the children or man the stalls. The children were invited by three local charities: Fundación Aitana (support for children with cancer), Manos de Apoyo y Vida (homeless or street children) and La Escuelita (children’s education).

For those members who are traveling to Royal Resorts over the Christmas holidays and would like to support the Toy Drive, it will remain open until January 2. Toys may be dropped off in Reception, ask for the Guest Services or Operations Manager.

All gifts will be distributed on January 6, Dia de Reyes, which is the day that Mexican children traditionally receive gifts.
