Starting November 8, 2014, a new Cirque du Soleil show comes to the Riviera Maya. A 600-seat theater is being built specially for the world-famous company and is located in the forest to the west of the Puerto Morelos -Playa del Carmen highway.
Offering audiences “a taste of the extraordinary,” the new show is called Joya, which means “jewel” in Spanish and it draws on Mexico’s history and rich heritage for inspiration. It is the tale of an old alchemist and his granddaughter who are on a quest to unlock the secrets of life. They enter a world of fantasy, meeting many strange and wonderful characters on the way and finding a gem hidden deep in the mangrove forest. The granddaughter discovers wisdom and happiness in the most unlikely places and finally they are able to spread the language of love and life to future generations.
The evening will include the show and dinner. There are performances from Tuesday to Saturday. www.cirquedusoleil.com
