Fishermen Take Up the Challenge in May

May is a hectic month in the Mexican Caribbean sport fishing calendar with six tournaments in different parts of the state, from Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel to Playa del Carmen and Majahual.

Fishermen from Cancún, Cozumel, the Riviera Maya and other parts of the Caribbean take to the high seas in search of the largest white and blue marlin, sailfish, swordfish and dorado. They compete for trophies and prizes ranging from cash to cars and motorbikes. They are encouraged to respect the catch and release policy to conserve fish stocks.
