It has been a sad time for all of us at Royal Resorts as we bid farewell to The Royal Mayan. The resort closed on February 1, bringing to an end 30 golden years full of precious memories for members and employees alike.

A Farewell BBQ had been offered every Thursday in the months leading up to the closing of the resort so that members could say good-bye to their fellow guests and employee friends. Always a popular spot, the La Palapa Pool Bar was busier than ever as people ordered their favorite cocktails and on January 31, management representatives and staff joined members for one last Happy Hour.

A poll of the Royal Mayan membership was conducted in 2012 on the future of the resort and the findings indicated a preference to place it on the market rather than extend the membership period. The bidding process for the sale of the resort took place last year and the company is delivering the resort installations and fixed assets to the new owner Sibra Diestra, S.A. de C.V.

Members of The Royal Mayan are being notified about this process and those in good standing will be receiving information about their residual rights distribution and timeline.
