Royal Resorts has always had close ties with the local community and has helped many people in need over the years. We thought that you would like to see how the Royal Resorts Foundation has been able to spread some happiness and make people smile in Cancún in recent months.

Valentine’s Day Visit
They say that all you need is love and we couldn’t agree more. This Valentine’s Day, the Royal Resorts Foundation and a group of employees and members were able to spread a little happiness during a visit to the Old Folks Home at the Ciudad de la Alegría Community Center on the outskirts of town.  They gave the residents flowers, spent time with them and even tested their domino skills against some seasoned players!

The Ciudad de la Alegría or City of Joy helps the poorest and most vulnerable members of the community. The residents of the Old Folks Home may not have a family support network to take care of them and lack the resources to fend for themselves.

Gifts for El Milagro
In December, a group of Royal Resorts staff and members visited Colonia El Milagro, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Cancún to distribute groceries, fresh pasta, packets of cookies and candies to residents and spread a little happiness.

El Milagro is one of the shanty settlements that have been carved out of the jungle on the outskirts of the city. Many of the inhabitants are migrant workers who moved here to give their families a better future and they lack access to proper housing and public services. Life is hard and people need a helping hand.
On this occasion, the Royal Resorts Foundation was able to hand out grocery gift boxes to more than 150 families. Our volunteers also had bags of candy and cookies for the children and they were soon besieged as the word spread like wildfire!
The visit was made possible thanks to the generous donations received from members, guests and staff and the Sales & Marketing Division, all of which were matched by the Royal Resorts Foundation. The cookies were supplied by the Royal Resorts Bakery and the spaghetti by Savio’s/La Dolce Vita Restaurant.
