More luxury brands are moving to Cancún with major expansions taking place at La Isla and Kukulcán Plaza.

At Fashion Harbour, the new shopping concourse between the Palacio de Hierro and Liverpool department stores in La Isla Shopping Mall, Carolina Herrera, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermenegildo Zegna and Rolex have joined Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Fendi and Armani Emporium. Elsewhere in the mall, Victoria’s Secret is now open and Palacio de Hierro has eliminated its home décor departments to focus exclusively on upscale clothing, footwear, accessories and cosmetics.

Not to be outdone, Luxury Avenue in Kukulcán Plaza has also undergone a facelift. Burberry opened a store late last year and other stores such as Max Mara and Carolina Herrera now have more floor space.

Located in the Mezzanine at Luxury Avenue, the Concept Store is a space dedicated to talented Mexican and Latin American designers who will be unveiling their exclusive seasonal collections of haute couture in the Mexican Caribbean.

The impressive list of highly acclaimed designers showcased in the Concept Store includes Rolando Santana, David Salomón, JI + B, Julia y Renata, Alexia Ulibarri, Lydia Lavin, Gianfranco Reni and Alessandro Alviani.

Shoppers can purchase a selection of clothing from the collections, in addition to striking one-of-a-kind accessories.

Elsewhere in Kukulcán Plaza, the upper level is being remodeled to accommodate a movie theater, additional stores and other services.

Playa del Carmen also has new stores for eager shoppers, including the new Quinta Alegría mall on Fifth Avenue and Benetton, Body Shop and Forever 21 stores.
