Here’s a rundown on some of the new flights to Cancún available from the United States, Europe, Latin America and other parts of Mexico, including some that will be launched later this year.
The twice-weekly Virgin Atlantic flight from London Gatwick to Cancún is proving so popular that the airline will be adding a third flight this May, following in the path of British Airways which also increased its flights.
Spirit has launched a daily flight from Dallas and United Airlines now flies to Cancún from Austin. Aeromexico is offering non-stop flights to and from Nashville, San Jose Costa Rica and two daily flights from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Aerolíneas Argentinas is operating two charter flights as of January 2013. Copa now has five daily flights linking Cancún to Panama City.
Air France is adding another flight from Paris and Corsair, the country’s second largest airline, is inaugurating a route to Cancún with two weekly flights. In November 2012, German airlines AirBerlin and Condor began offering seven flights a week from Dusseldorf and Munich.
Elsewhere in Mexico, AeroMexico is now flying three times a week from Mexico City to London Heathrow and British Airways, which already has four flights on the same route, will be adding a fifth this summer. Mexican airline Interjet is offering flights from Toluca to Las Vegas and San Antonio Texas, and from Orange County Airport in California to Guadalajara and Mexico City. Volaris has similar expansion plans. And finally, American Eagle now flies to the colonial city of Puebla (UNESCO World Heritage site) from Dallas-Fort Worth, making it easier for Americans to discover Mexico’s historic highlands.
